LinkedIn Automates Alt-Text on Images

LinkedIn Automates Alt-Text on Images

Early in 2019, LinkedIn added manual alt-text for users who wanted to put descriptions to uploaded photos, diagrams and illustrations to provide info to visually impaired connections in their network (among other purposes). Now, LinkedIn has updated alt-text from manual to automatic. This ensures everyone using LinkedIn can be more inclusive with their posts. Networking is about getting the most connections after all. Also, this accumulates more data for LinkedIn to look at when advertising to users. It will be worth watching to see if LinkedIn’s automation tech accurately describes intricate images in alt-text or they just end up as memes!
