Hulu’s ‘Castle Rock’ References Famous Brand Tagline

A memorable brand tagline seeps into the collective cultural consciousness. Case in point: On episode three of Hulu’s big and buzzy new show Castle Rock, one character dropped a reference to a famous brand tagline that frequently peppered commercials and advertisements in the 1980s and 1990s. The tagline in question? “Because you never get a second chance to make a first impression”.

Do you remember the brand behind that memorable tag? While one of the characters on Castle Rock mistakenly attributed it to a toothpaste brand, another corrected her—reminding her it actually belonged to a dandruff shampoo*. Just another tiny but telling reminder of the many ways marketing and branding wallpaper our everyday lives (and our entertainment).
