Salesforce starts #TeamEarth – Advocates For the Tangible

Salesforce released an ad to accompany the Winter Olympics and the Super Bowl that promotes #TeamEarth. The ad follows Matthew McConaughey as he contemplates the galaxy before him. As he returns to earth, McConaughey celebrates some of the beautiful aspects of planet Earth and humanity. Why must we always look to the stars or dive into some digital metaverse? Why can’t we just appreciate what lay before us for a moment?

The #TeamEarth ad serves as an interesting counterculture stance, distancing itself from the growing interest in concepts like the metaverse. Salesforce is all about personal connection, so it stands to reason that the brand may not be as eager to dive into the digital realm as others. Positioning itself in opposition to brands that are racing to create digital brand efforts serves to differentiate Salesforce and may bring supporters from a more traditional crowd. As the world changes, brands must adapt to those changes. However, nowhere does it say that brands need to follow the crowd.
