Skydance Smashes Superman Into Titanic in New Video

After Paramount officially closed on the much-discussed (and often maligned) acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery on October 6, the two famed movie studios merged together like a massive mutated monster under the moniker Skydance Corp.

Skydance has wasted no time making its name known both around Hollywood and across the globe. First, the company added the line “A Skydance Corporation” to the famous Warner Bros. water tower (which 90s kids will, of course, remember from Animaniacs). Then the company unleashed what could most aptly be called a “hype video”, aiming to inspire people with all the IP they now have under one roof.

In the video, we see quick glimpses of Titanic, Superman, Tony Soprano, Harry Potter, Top Gun, Inception, Barbie, Ferris Bueller, Game of Thrones, Casablanca, and more. Finally, as the familiar Paramount logo comes up at the end, the voice-over narration from Oscar-winning actor Michael B. Jordan tells us: “What once was the peak is now just the beginning.”

Marketing Takeaway

Showing clips of familiar, beloved media is a tried-and-true way to tap nostalgia and stir emotions. It’s almost like an involuntary reflex. Whether it makes people forget that the studios behind these memorable moments have been gobbled up and consolidated remains to be seen.
