Stepping into your own personal time machine with 23andMe

It’s very possible that you’ve already had a DNA test at some point in the last decade, since they’ve become much more mainstream and affordable. One of the most popular options available has been 23andMe, and its retail DNA test was named Invention of the Year by Time Magazine in 2008.

It’s very easy to see why people are attracted to the idea of learning more about their own DNA. Human beings have an innate desire to see the future. Understanding our own genetic code gets us one step closer to doing that by estimating our own predispositions to a variety of traits and conditions—from baldness to blindness. In a sense, it’s akin to stepping into our own personal time machine and seeing the possible outcomes that lie ahead of us.
