The Simpsons Hits a Major Milestone and Keeps on Going

The Simpsons Hits a Major Milestone and Keeps on Going

In 2016, The Simpsons hit 600 episodes. It was the first TV show since Gunsmoke (635 episodes) to take home that prized recognition.

Even in 2020, The Simpsons (now at 673 episodes) is still buzzing! The show has become a cultural Nostradamus, predicting current events like the recent Super Bowl matchup (though it had the wrong winner). The Simpsons also made headlines recently when Disney+ debuted. Subscribers complained about visual gags getting cropped as the service forced the original 4:3 aspect ratio into today’s 16:9 widescreen format. Disney vowed the original aspect ratios would return in 2020. No matter what’s buzzing around the show, we’ve learned a valuable lesson. The Simpsons may be over three decades old, but it’s not to be underestimated.
