Marketers Heart Valentine’s Day

Marketers Heart Valentine’s Day

If marketers had to pick a valentine this Valentine’s Day, they might actually pick Valentine’s Day—and every other holiday for that matter. It’s no secret that marketers love nothing more than a sweet holiday to get a little marketing crazy. For Valentine’s Day this year, we have two tasty examples from our friends in the fast food world:

McDonald’s is giving away an 18-karat gold, gem-encrusted Big Mac ring (known as the “Bling Mac” and supposedly worth $12,000). The fast-food brand will award the ring to the person who tweets “the best, most creative vows of Big Mac burger love” to @McDonalds using #BlingMacContest.

On the more modest side, KFC is handing out scratch-n-sniff Valentine Day cards that smell like chicken with any purchase of $10 or more. The cards feature Colonel Sanders delivering puns like “You have the secret recipe to my heart” and “I fell in love the first moment I slaw you.”
