IKEA Uses Augmented Reality in Snapchat To Escape Virtual Clutter

Are you tired of clutter in your life? If so, IKEA built a virtual escape room that allows you to use augmented reality (AR) to do a little spring cleaning. Users will need to use Snapchat to do the organizing, but the “filter” is a clever way to showcase some furniture options and their benefits in a game-like way.

This isn’t the first time that the furniture conglomerate has used AR to show its wares. It’s been on the cutting edge of this technology since as early as 2012 and more recently launched IKEA Place in 2017. Of course partnering with and integrating its products into a social ecosystem like Snapchat, with over 330 million users, seems like an easy way to extend its reach to a much bigger audience.
