The General Auto Insurance Tries to Shift Brand Perception

NBA star Shaquille O’Neil has been a spokesperson for The General Auto Insurance since 2016. The original commercials he appeared in used a combination of humor and Shaq’s interaction with a 3D mascot for the brand. In the newest ad spots, the insurance company appears to be attempting a shift of public perception. One obvious change is that the commercials have toned down the usage of the mascot in its ads. The humorous edge isn’t gone, but the primary message is now focused on the longevity of the company, its quality insurance and affordable low rates.
